Unguarded moments

Unguarded moments

“Unguarded Moments” is a body of work that had its origin in trying to deal with the concept of a circle, both literal and metaphorical: a vicious circle of unending and un-resolving revolution. The images were inspired by watching young Buddhist monks in Sikkim, Northeast India keeping tiny oil lamps alight. The flames were constantly in need of being re-lit as they died or the air movement blew them out, creating an endless cycle of re-lighting only to be extinguished, and on and on.

Leh photo etchings

The large photo etchings show an Indian temple with a large Buddha, where on different floors of the building you could see a different section of the sculpture. The figure filled the building yet at no point could you see the whole of it: a tangible example of there being hidden aspects of things that still have an impact on the whole.
